NECIC's 36,000-square-foot impact center plan anchors North End engagement

NECIC Staffing has reopened its Mansfield office at 486 Springmill Street — the same address where the North End Community Improvement Collaborative is planning to renovate and substantially expand its Community Outreach Center into a 36,000-square-foot Community Impact Center.

For a north-end neighbor looking for work, the reopened office means help is available now, at the door on Springmill Street, before the new building ever breaks ground. NECIC Staffing is a community-based staffing and recruiting service that connects job seekers with employers, and it provides workforce support services such as case management, child care, transportation, and coaching to help people keep and succeed in jobs.

The bigger building is the long game. The planned Community Impact Center is intended to house NECIC's own programs and bring community services back into the neighborhood under one roof.

What's inside

Plans for the building describe employment services, healthcare and mental health, arts, education, small business development, and recreation — a medical clinic, banking and financial services, a theater, art studios, a gymnasium, a commercial kitchen, and a rooftop garden.

Already at work

The Thursday farmers market and the monthly Watch the Block forums already run from the same Springmill Street address.

The 2026 North End Farmers Market runs every Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at NECIC / Grow by NECIC, 486 Springmill Street. Grow by NECIC is NECIC's community food hub. The market accepts SNAP/EBT (Ohio Directions Card), the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits, processed through NECIC, tying it directly to food access for north-side families who shop it. Watch the Block is a recurring monthly community forum where North End residents can raise concerns and speak directly with neighbors and local police. NECIC describes the forum as "a chance to speak up, ask questions, and talk directly with neighbors or local police about what's happening in the community."
