After Five Years of Renovation, Roseto Event Venue Opens on Main Street

Downtown Mansfield has a new anchor for gatherings and evening activity. Roseto Event Venue opened at 23 North Main Street this spring after a five-year renovation, bringing large-event capacity back to the heart of a corridor undergoing its own transformation.

The venue sits directly across from the DLX building in the Central Park District and offers more than 7,000 square feet of flexible event space with an open floor plan that can be configured for intimate gatherings or larger celebrations. Local reporting puts its capacity at up to 300 guests, though the venue's own website lists capacity for up to 250 — a difference that may reflect varying seating arrangements.

Owner and operator Shereen Tamsen oversaw the renovation from start to finish. "The mission was to revitalize not just the building but to also play a part in revitalizing the community it serves," Tamsen said.

The building at 23 North Main Street has deep roots in the city's commercial history. It originally housed Platts' Optical, then S.S. Kresge from 1914 to 1974, and later the Yellow Deli in the 1970s. The renovation focused on preserving the architectural integrity of the early 20th-century commercial building while updating it for modern event use. "We envisioned restoring its former glory while infusing new life into its historic walls," Tamsen said.

A Main Street plaza with a fountain and loading zones has been completed outside the venue's entrance.

What Downtown Has Lacked

Before Roseto opened, downtown's principal event spaces included the DLX/Dan Lew Exchange, with room for up to 200 guests; the Quality Inn & Suites Downtown Mansfield, with capacity for up to 300 in its Leland Ballroom; the Mansfield Art Center, accommodating up to 200; and the Renaissance Theatre, with event spaces for 50 to 200 guests. Roseto adds a dedicated large-format venue designed specifically for weddings, corporate events, baby showers, community gatherings, birthday parties, and graduation celebrations.

Downtown planning documents identify additional businesses as a way to increase foot traffic, support business creation, strengthen the tax base, and draw visitors and population growth. Downtown Mansfield Inc. states its mission is to stimulate economic development and improve downtown's image as a desirable place to work, live, shop, visit, and invest.

Arriving Alongside a Larger Transformation

Roseto's opening comes as Main Street itself is being rebuilt. A major revitalization effort stretching roughly from First Street to Fifth Street — including new sidewalks, curbs, ADA ramps, lighting, brick pavers, plazas, landscaping, and public gathering spaces — began construction on Feb. 24, 2025, with completion scheduled for late October 2026. The project also converts Main Street from one-way to two-way traffic.

Parking near the venue includes street parking, public lots, and overflow parking at the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library.

Booking and Pricing

Roseto has already begun hosting events, including a Love for Rubies Gala on Feb. 12, 2026, an Open House and Vendor Showcase on March 15, and a grand opening on March 21.

Under 2026 promotional pricing, wedding venue rental runs $3,000 for weekday events and $3,500 for weekends. Cultural, community, birthday, and graduation party rentals are $450 on weekdays and $550 on weekends.

The question now is whether a 300-person venue — landing on a street mid-construction and mid-reinvention — can do what downtown planning documents say the corridor needs most: give people a reason to show up, spend money, and stay after dark.
